    What is Radiation Protection?

It is the protection of people and the environment against the harmful effects of radiation protection. It is the assessing and management the potential radiation risk. International guidance is provided by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Who is the International Atomic Energy Agency?

The IAEA is an intergovernmental organization that seeks to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons. It was established in 1957 as an autonomous international organization though governed by its own founding treaty, the IAEA Statute, the organization reports to both the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations, and is headquartered at the UN Office at Vienna, Austria.

    What are your main services?

Our main services are radiation safety assessments (occupational and public), radiation protection program design, auditing and integration with other SHE(Q) programs, radiological product stewardship, and integration of radiation risk in mine closure plans.

    What is radiological product stewardship?

Being proactive and responsible—ensuring that radiological aspects of products are identified, managed, and communicated across the supply chain to protect health, ensure compliance, and avoid costly surprises.

    What is NORM?

NORM refers to naturally occurring radioactive materials. All matter, including the human body, contains trace amounts of the decay chains of uranium and thorium naturally. Whilst it is naturally occurring, in its natural form or when concentrated through processing, it can exceed levels that may pose harm to humans and the environment. Countries thus have legislation that ensures protection against NORM.
